LINDSAY SHAPERO

EMMY WINNING SCREENWRITER AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, WORKING IN DRAMA, DRAMA-DOC AND DOCUMENTARY

I developed my storytelling skills through documentary film making - looking at real people with unpredictable emotions and trying to work out what makes them tick.

In documentaries I've been working for Blast, Pulse, Wall to Wall and Nutopia over the past few years, executive producing series and working as an script consultant, improving storytelling in long running series.

Regarding drama, I've most recently written two episodes of a major Netflix drama documentary, to be aired in 2023. Other drama commissions are Winter Palace, an 8x52 series commissioned by Point Productions and Swiss TV RTS;  American Princess, a 6x45 series for Endor UK and Topkapi in the Netherlands and finally, the adaptation of the award winning graphic novels Once Upon a Time in France for Federation in France and Main Journey in Montreal.

I've been producing factual TV for many years and was lucky in that my first drama screenplay won the Oscar Moore Prize. I haven't stopped writing since. In 2016, I had seven and a half hours of drama and drama documentary airing in Britain, the US and France/Germany. These included a 60 minute drama documentary about the abdication crisis for BBC2/PBS in the States; a 90 minute drama doc called The Battle for Tea for Arte; a three-part true crime drama I wrote with Olivier Nilsson-Julien for Discovery ID in the States and two episodes we also co-wrote about the Barbarians of the Roman Empire for the US History Channel. I've had broadcast the biopic Enid starring Helena Bonham Carter on the BBC and the drama documentary When Boris Met Dave on Channel 4.

And as for the story of the old boys standing behind me in the photo, I'll leave it to your imagination.
